Its been over a week since my last post…I’ve been super lazy with this blog thing but Im forcing myself back into it. Last week started off really slow at work but then picked up towards the end. We had off for MLK day which was a nice treat. Then we watched the Inauguration on a big projection screen tv with over 300 people at Ogilvy on Tuesday. It was a awesome watching it with a bunch of people who were just as stoked as me about the new pres. After the inaug party there wasn’t much for me to do the rest of the day except walk around and see what people were working on. Wednesday I got to go to a photo shoot for Sears and got a free lunch! It was my first photo shoot so I didn’t know what to expect. It was held at a small studio space located waaay uptown. I got there and only knew one girl from my floor but ended up meeting lots of new friends!The models were super hot and made me jealous of their job haha. I snagged some pix on my iPhone that I’ll eventually put up. Thurs and Fri were really busy which helped the weekend come faster. I’ll post about my adventurous Saturday escapades with Scholl, Marc, and Mal later today when Im bored.

Ittssss Fridaayy!!! So happy its the weekend! I must say that this week was slower than I expected but I blame that on the mundane tasks thats consume my work day. I talked to my bosses and next week I will be more involved in the ad creation process from the beginning. I told them that Im very concept-driven and would love to see an ad be made from the start to finish. I’ve made some friends (sorta) at work but most of them are a decade or so older than me so conversations don’t get too far. Em has been my saving grace, although our cubes aren’t even remotely close to each-other!!! Im sure everyone heard about the plane that landed in the Hudson river after the engine was struck by two geese……riiiiighttt. Thank God everyone was safe but does it freak anyone else the shit out that a goose is capable of crashing a plane!?!!??!! The whole thing is very fishy but props to the pilot for a job well done!

Scholly’s got some amigos coming to visit this weekend and Stacey will be our house-guest until Maly returns. I love having a packed apartment!!! Im very excited to rage with the whole VC NYC gang since my plans last weekend were shot to hell (for the most part). Tonight we’re going to go to the closest bar (prob McFadden’s) so that we don’t freeze our little asses off! Em’s got the hook up at McFadden’s-her roomies are bartenders there and are gunna hook us up with some dealsss. Shes also got an in at this posh night club called the Pink Elephant, which looks freaaakin siiiiick!!!! Some celebs including Jessica Simpson, Hillary Duff, P. Diddy, etc. party there all the time when they are in the city! Its gunna be a blast pretending to be a rich biotch for the night!!

I have lots of pics from the James Jean Show that I still need to put up….Im just lazy at the moment. Im sure that I will find time to do it over the weekend + Martin Luther King Day-holla! Its very fitting that Obama’s inauguration is on Tuesday, the whole event sounds like its going to be very over the top. Obama’s the man and Bush is dunzooo so thats reason enough to celebrate in my book!!!! Happy weekend!!!

Starbucks Owns My Life

I am going to start a tab on the amount of $$$$$ that I spend at $tarbucks during my stay in NYC. There are AT LEAST 7 of them on my morning commute to work. Bear in mind that my commute is only about 20 minutes and most of it is underground. Don’t get me wrong, I freakin’ love S-bucks and all of its overpriced goodness. I usually stick with a regular black coffee but when Im in the mood to treat myself I get a grande caramel macchiato. It kinda sad to think of all the other small family owned cafes that have been kicked to the curb by $tarbuck’s urban domination. I usually get a $tarbucks gift card with some ridiculous amount on it in my stocking at Christmas. This year it was replaced with an i-Tunes gift card which is alot more practical but goes just as fast. So Im basically a creature of habit and I don’t plan on changing my routine to save more money for boozin. Besides, a weekly supply of fraps can get you hopped up on crazy so theres no need for booze-see Britney circa 2007.

First Day Down!

So the first day at Ogilvy was painless. Adrienne (a.k.a. Kelly Roland from Destiny’s Child) showed us around and got us all set up in our little cubicles. Me and Em are on opposite sides of the floor unfort. (but that will probably allow us to be more productive ha). After 2 hours of chillin in my cube and gettin to know some of my neighbors I started to get very bored. My one supervisor Ernie gave me a Sears project to work on, which was mostly just image searching and adding text. There was no creative direction behind them but it kept me busy for the rest of the morning/afternoon. Adrienne returned to my desk before she left and gave me a sweet book called Ogilvy on Advertising. I wasn’t as tired as I thought I would be at the end of the day so I got in a late evening work out at NYSC. The very best part of the day was at 10pm when Scholly returned!!! This past weekend just wasn’t the same without that little gremlin. Shes back in full force with a healthier kidney!!

Im planning on meeting up with the VC group + Sophie and maybe Becca tonight to go see Kat’s brother’s band play at Arlene’s Grocery. I haven’t seen many of them since Friday or before that even. Everyone is so busy during the week and we all have our own schedules for the weekend. This weekend lets do something fun and relatively cheap, ok? On a side note, Im really bummed that our apartment doesn’t get MTV or VH1. As much as I want to hide it, I can’t help but love those damn trashy tv shows. Watching The City, Bromance, and Rock of Love with Bret Michaels online just isn’t the same. And speaking of The City, I still have yet to sight Whitney or any of those fake bitches! My only celeb encounter thus far was with a dude from The Road Rules, but thats for another post….

Well today is my first day at Ogilvy and so far so good! I met Emily this morning around 9:30 at Starbucks and then we proceeded to Ogilvy’s offices inside the Worldwide Plaza. Ogilvy takes up most of the building’s space but Lifetime is also located here. We were introduced to Adrienne, who got us both situated and logged into their system. Everyone is suuuper nice and are willing to help me out with whatever. Right now Im anxiously awaiting my first assignment. Hopefully I’ll be working on some cool stuff this week and not just sitting around waiting to do something.

Soo WordPress has an annoying habit of not adding my new posts the first time I try to post them…It freakin sucks! Anyways, today was the last day of my free week in the city. I am excited to start interning at Ogilvy on Monday!! This weekend we’re going to try and crash the opening bash for James Jean’s new show called Kindling at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. I am a huuuuge fan of Jean’s work and his ballin drawing skills. Hopefully we will be able to get into the gallery on its opening night and possibly meet him! I’ll def. update this with pictures from the even if we get in. Happy weekend!!

I had some time to explore the city before my internship starts next week. I located Ogilvy, which is right off of Broadway in Times Square! I have the easiest subway ride from Grand Central Station. My daily commute will be very action-packed!! I managed to take some pics on my iPhone befor getting trampled by mobs of tourists/normal people.

We have arrived at our permanent location in the city for the next 5 weeks! Yay!! Its a homey apartment in mid-Manhattan and Im living with two best pals!! Here’s some pics of the sick ass apartment we will be living in for the next five weeks!!
